This Privacy Policy (Privacy Policy) applies to the Four Freedoms Park Conservancy (Conservancy, we, us or our) websites at fdrfourfreedomspark.org and fdr4freedoms.org and any pages thereof (Websites) and is intended to inform you of the terms regarding your use of the Websites and the procedures the Conservancy employs regarding collection, use, and disclosure of information gathered through the Websites.  The Conservancy is committed to protecting the privacy and security of those who visit the Websites.  This Privacy Policy is part of the Terms of Use of the Websites.

The Conservancy cares about the privacy of our members, online users, donors, and visitors.  The Conservancy operates the Websites in accordance with the following Privacy Policy.  By using the Websites, you consent to and agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, you should not use the Websites.

Data Collection

We may collect information that identifies you or can be used to identify or contact you (Personally Identifiable Information), including your name, address, email address, telephone number, and billing and credit card information, in different manners and at different pages on the Websites, such as when you sign up or register with the Conservancy or otherwise interact with the Conservancy or the Websites.  We may collect non-Personally Identifiable Information when you visit the Websites.

When you sign up or register online with the Conservancy
When you sign up or register with the Conservancy online, including for our email list or any of our events, you may be asked to provide Personally Identifiable Information including your email address and zip code.  You may also provide us with your name, postal address, and telephone number.  However, this information may not be required.

Please note that it is not necessary to register or submit any Personally Identifiable Information in order to visit the Conservancy’s Websites.  However, some features of the websites, such as signing up for our email list or events, may require the submission of Personally Identifiable Information.

When you place an order at the Four Freedoms Park Shop
The Conservancy will ask you to provide Personally Identifiable Information necessary to fulfill your order request.  This may include your name, billing and shipping postal addresses, telephone number, email address, and credit card number.

When you make a purchase at the retail kiosk at the Four Freedoms Park
The Conservancy will ask you to provide Personally Identifiable Information necessary to fulfill your order request.  This may include your name, billing and shipping postal addresses, telephone number, email address, and credit card number.

When you donate or make a gift to the Conservancy, purchase a membership, or register for an event
When making a donation, purchasing a membership, or registering for an event, you will be asked to provide Personally Identifiable Information necessary to process and service your request.  This may include your name, billing and shipping postal addresses, membership number, telephone number, email address, and credit card number.

When you send the Conservancy an email or message the Conservancy through the Contact or Contact the Shop pages on the Websites
The Conservancy is pleased to receive emails from you.  Should you choose to send an email to the Conservancy, your message and email address will be forwarded to the appropriate department within the Conservancy, and we will save your contact information as part of our permanent records.  Please be aware that any message, material, ideas, concepts, or other information sent to the Conservancy by email will be treated as non-confidential.

When you sign up for a volunteer activity or apply for a job or internship
When you register to be a volunteer by sending an email to the Conservancy’s volunteer department or apply for a job or internship at the Conservancy, we may request your telephone number or email address in order to contact you for an interview.  Should you participate further in the recruitment process, the Conservancy may request that you appear in person for an additional interview, and you may be required to provide additional information, including your name, postal address, telephone number, email address, and photo ID.  You may also be required to complete a background check.

When you request a Guided Tour, Workshop, Self Guided Tour, Program, or send us your preferences for programs
When you sign up for a Guided Tour, Workshop, Program, or Self Guided Tour, we may request certain information, including name, title, billing address, membership number, telephone number, email address, and credit card number in order to process your request.

Use of Information

Internal use
We will use your Personally Identifiable Information in order to respond to your request, process your contribution, fulfill your online order, or to understand who uses the Websites.  We may also use Personally Identifiable Information and non-Personally Identifiable Information to provide and improve the Websites and to analyze usage of the Websites. 

If you use a credit card to make a donation, gift, or payment, your credit card information will be temporarily stored on a secured server only for as long as necessary to process your payment.

We may use your information to inform you of events, send you Conservancy email and newsletters, request monetary contributions, and send you promotions and updates about Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park.  You may opt out of receiving emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in the email message or by emailing park@fdrffp.org or calling 212-204-8831.

We may acknowledge you by name in our publications or on our Websites if you make a donation or purchase a ticket to one of our events, unless you request that your donation or purchase be anonymous.

From time to time, the Conservancy may conduct surveys.  We may use the information gathered from the surveys to better understand our users, donors, members, and friends and determine how best to serve them.

The Conservancy may combine the information you provide us online with other Personally Identifiable Information, such as geographical information and purchase history, in order to better serve our visitors and Website users.

The Conservancy’s Websites automatically collect some anonymous “non-personally identifiable” aggregate information, which may include visitors’ type of browsers, operating systems, Internet Service Providers, and other similar information.  The information collected is used for statistical purposes to monitor how visitors to the Conservancy’s Websites navigate our site, allowing us to tailor our Websites to better accommodate our visitors.

External Use
We will only use your Personally Identifiable Information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time we request such information from you.  We do not sell, trade, share, or transfer your personal data to any third parties, other than to a third party who acts as an agent and stores personal information on our behalf or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. We may share non-personally identifiable aggregate statistical data with third parties.

Except as provided in or permitted by this Privacy Policy, we will not share, sell, or distribute any of the personal information you provide to us without your consent unless we believe it is required by law.  We will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity of anyone posting any defamatory, obscene, or otherwise illegal material on the Websites.

The Conservancy may disclose Personally Identifiable Information to third-party vendors or independent contractors it engages in order to help it better serve visitors and customers (to the extent necessary to provide such assistance), including vendors that assist us in fulfilling orders through the online shop or processing donations and gifts.  The Conservancy requires its vendors and independent contractors to maintain the confidentiality and security of Conservancy information to which they are provided access in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and restricts the vendors from using the information in any way not expressly authorized by the Conservancy.

We may disclose Personally Identifiable Information in special circumstances when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to protect the safety and/or security of our users, the Websites, or the general public. 

We reserve the right to transfer Personally Identifiable Information and other information to a third party in the event of a sale, merger, or other transfer of all or substantially all of the assets of the Conservancy provided that the third party agrees to adhere to the terms of this Privacy Policy.  We will notify users of any such transfer through notice on our Websites. 

Your Options

We recognize that you may wish to correct, update, or change your Personally Identifiable Information or limit the ways in which we contact you and use your information.  The Conservancy offers the following options:

You may correct, update, or delete your Personally Identifiable Information on file with the Conservancy or change your preferences with respect to communications and other information you may receive from the Conservancy at any time by emailing us at park@fdrffp.org or calling 212-204-8831.  The need to back-up our systems to protect information from inadvertent loss means that a copy of your Personally Identifiable Information may exist in a non-erasable form that will be difficult or impossible for the Conservancy to locate.  Following receipt of your request, we will update, correct, or delete your Personally Identifiable Information, as requested by you, from all our readily searchable databases.  Such updates, corrections or deletions will not have an effect on any information we have provided to third parties in accordance with this Privacy Policy prior to such updates, corrections, or deletions.

Data Security

The security of your Personally Identifiable Information is important to us.  We employ commercially reasonable security measures to protect such information.  Nonetheless, because no security measures are completely effective, we cannot ensure or guarantee the security of any Personally Identifiable Information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.

When you submit personal and credit card information through the Websites, the Conservancy receives such information using secure socket layering (SSL) technology.  We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and administrative procedures for Personally Identifiable Information that we collect online through the Websites.

We cannot ensure the security of any Personally Identifiable Information you choose to make public in a comment.  Also, we cannot ensure that parties who have access to such publicly available information will respect your privacy.  Please exercise caution when deciding to disclose Personally Identifiable Information in comments.

Children

The Conservancy does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13.  If you are under the age of 13, please do not submit any personal data to the Conservancy.  The Conservancy encourages parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce this Privacy Policy by instructing children to never provide personal data to the Conservancy without their permission.  In the event the Conservancy learns it has inadvertently gathered personal information from children under the age of 13, the Conservancy will take reasonable measures to promptly erase such information from its records.

Cookies

The Conservancy’s Websites use cookies (small files that store information on your computer’s web browser) or other tracking technologies to enhance user experience on the site.  Cookies are used to perform certain functions such as saving personal interests and preferences, delivering content specific to these interests and preferences, and tracking activity on the Websites.  You may set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie and delete any cookies you receive. 

Links to Other Sites

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the collection and use of any information gathered by or through any third-party websites.  The Conservancy is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of any third-party websites, including any such websites to which the Websites provide links.  The Conservancy encourages you to review the privacy policies of third-party websites to understand what policies apply to their collection and use of your information.

Changes to Privacy Policy

The Conservancy reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy from time to time and, if we do, we will post the revised Privacy Policy here so that you will always know the terms regarding how we collect, use, and disclose your information.  Your continued use of the Websites following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy will mean that you accept those changes.
