Join us in honoring Ai Weiwei for his lifelong commitment to freedom and human rights, powerfully expressed through his fearless artistic practice.

Ai Weiwei’s Camouflage launches a new public art program, Art X Freedom, that will commission artists working at the intersection of social justice and art. Ai states, “The project explores the essence of Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms, beginning with freedom of speech—the fundamental right for everyone to express their understanding of goodness and justice, free from the influence of politics, religion, or economic power.”

At this pivotal moment, we honor Barbara Shattuck Kohn, whose steadfast leadership as Chair of the Four Freedoms Park Conservancy since 2013 has helped establish a vital cultural landmark for New York City.

PeiJu Chien-Pott will perform Lamentation Variation: The Body in Camouflage, a contemporary interpretation of Martha Graham’s iconic Lamentation, created in partnership with GRAHAM100, the centennial celebration of the Martha Graham Dance Company. The piece explores themes of visibility, identity, and resilience, using the body as both symbol and statement.
