On October 24, 2012, FDR Four Freedoms State Park opened to the public nearly 40 years after it was designed by architect Louis Kahn. Now, 24 seasons later as summer fades to fall, the Park is set to reach a new milestone: our one millionth visitor!
Since our gates opened, we’ve been counting the many families, photographers, New Yorkers, tourists, and runners that visit the Park each day, and using the best mathematics minds available (and, OK, excel, too), we anticipate our lucky one millionth visitor will arrive on Saturday, October 6, 2018! Even better, that day falls on Fall for Arts, an annual Roosevelt Island event celebrating art and the start of autumn.
Join us on October 6 from 11am-5pm for a day filled with art, music, yoga, food, and more as we celebrate one million incredible visitors to FDR Four Freedoms State Park.
Thank you all for visiting the Park -- we look forward to seeing you there again soon!
