Join the Four Freedoms Park Horticulture Club and help keep our Park – your Park – beautiful. The club meets once a month for 6 months, and volunteers are tasked with caring for the areas around the trees and Park using various gardening methods. No experience necessary. Water and light snacks are provided.
Volunteers who attend all meet-ups will receive a free annual Park Membership!

ABOUT YOGA AT FOUR FREEDOMS PARK
All yoga classes will take place on our lawn, surrounded by spectacular views of the New York skyline. Classes are led by Roosevelt Island residents and certified yoga instructors Keren Messer, Lauren Blankstein, and Jax Schott.
Classes are one hour; participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat and bottled water. Classes are weather dependent and subject to change; check our website for the most up-to-date information.
Suggested donation of $5; no registration required. Free for members. Become a member today!
Drop-in Yoga, May 2 - August 27*
Mondays, 6pm-7pm: Vinyasa with Lauren
This drop-in, open-level vinyasa class is suited for all abilities. Develop strength and flexibility as you flow through postures, coordinating movement with breath. A practitioner of vinyasa and kundalini Yoga, Lauren “gently guides students through a balanced practice that links breath and movement.”
Fridays, 6pm-7pm: Hatha with Keren
This drop-in, energizing, open-level hatha class is suited for all abilities and focuses on proper alignment and breath. Keren teaches hatha yoga with “humor, compassion and intensity, balancing precise instruction, fluid movement and alignment with breath.”
Saturdays, 10am-11am: Vinyasa with Jax
This drop-in, open-level vinyasa class is suited for all abilities. Develop strength and flexibility as you flow through postures, coordinating movement with breath. Jax has trained in Prana Vinyasa Flow and believes in “the healing properties of yoga, bringing a lot of heart, inspiration and creativity to her classes.”
*Yoga classes will not be held on Monday, May 30 and Monday, July 4.
Drop-in Kids & Family Yoga, May 5 – June 30
Ages 4-7 with caregivers
Thursdays, 4pm-5pm: Kids & Family Yoga with Jax
Young yogis, ages 4-7 with caregivers, are invited to explore the art of yoga, building on basics that teach relaxation, self-esteem, strength, coordination, and flexibility. Parents/caregivers are welcome to join! Participants should wear comfortable clothes. Jax has trained in prana vinyasa flow and believes in “the healing properties of yoga, bringing a lot of heart, inspiration and creativity to her classes.”

Saturday, May 14: Franklin D. Roosevelt Park: Past, Present, and Future
The memorial to President Franklin D. Roosevelt was announced by Governor Nelson Rockefeller and Mayor John Lindsay in 1973, and yet due to financial instability, the death of its architect Louis Kahn, and changes within NY State leadership, plans for the memorial were put aside. Discover the unique history of the Park's past, present, and future in this exciting tour.
Saturday, June 11: Landmarks in and around Four Freedoms Park
From the Smallpox Hospital, commonly known as the "Renwick Ruin", to the United Nations, to the popular Pepsi-Cola sign in Queens’ Gantry State Park, learn about the incredible architecture and landmarks surrounding Four Freedoms Park.
Saturday, July 9: Signature Park Tour en Español
Explore the unique history of the Park and learn about Louis Kahn’s last architectural masterpiece in this tour given in Spanish.
