Park Hours

Park is open 6 days a week, 9 am to 5 pm.  Park is closed on Tuesdays.

Public Transportation

Tram from Manhattan 

Tramway Car at 59th Street & 2nd Avenue Station. Exit at Tramway Station on Roosevelt Island. Walk approximately 15 minutes south to Park. 

Subway

Take F train to Roosevelt Island stop. Walk approximately 15 minutes south to Park. 

Bus

By Car

Please note there is no parking at Four Freedoms Park and very limited parking on Roosevelt Island.

From Manhattan

59th Street Bridge (Upper Roadway recommended). Enter on 58th Street east of 2nd Avenue. Stay in the right lane off ramp to 21st Street. Take right onto 21st Street. Take left at 36th Avenue across Roosevelt Island Bridge. Turn left onto Main Street. Turn left onto East Road. Limited parking available on East and West Roads.

59th Street Bridge (Lower Roadway). Stay in right lane for Jackson Avenue/25A West. Take first right off the bridge. Stay in right lane. Take right onto Jackson Avenue. Take right onto 43rd Avenue. Take right onto Vernon Boulevard. Take left at 36th Avenue across Roosevelt Island Bridge. Turn left onto Main Street. Turn left onto East Road. Limited parking available on East and West Roads.

Midtown Tunnel (I-495 East) to Queens. Take Exit 13 (Borden Avenue). Turn right on Borden Avenue. Take first right onto Vernon Boulevard. Turn left at 36th Avenue across Roosevelt Island Bridge. Turn left onto Main Street. Turn left onto East Road.  Limited parking available on East and West Roads.

From Long Island

Grand Central Parkway (West). Take Exit 45 (31st Street). Turn left onto 31st Street. Turn right onto 36th Avenue. Proceed to Roosevelt Island via 36th Avenue Bridge. Turn left onto Main Street. Turn left onto East Road. Limited parking available on East and West Roads.

From Brooklyn via BQE

BQE (East). Take Exit 33 (Humboldt/McGuiness). At the end of ramp bear left under the BQE to McGuiness, crossing the Pulaski Bridge into Queens. McGuiness becomes 11th Street. Continue on 11th to 44th Drive. Make left at light onto 44th Drive. Turn right at next light on Vernon Boulevard. Follow Vernon Boulevard to 36th Avenue. Take left at 36th Avenue across Roosevelt Island Bridge. Turn left onto Main Street. Turn left onto East Road. Limited parking available on East and West Roads.

Accessibility Services

Four Freedoms Park welcomes all visitors and is committed to ensuring everyone enjoys their visit.

Due to construction of the Cornell Tech campus, RIOC public Red Bus service will not be operating to the southern end of the island. In order to accommodate all visitors, Four Freedoms Park offers special transportation services from the Tramway Station to the Park for those in need of assistance.

Free open-air shuttle service is available to visitors with limited mobility or special needs. Our two shuttles can accommodate up to 10 passengers and are available during normal operating hours. Additionally, visitors needing assistance may explore the park using our shuttles (subject to availability). 

Wheelchairs are also available free-of-charge.

To arrange accessibility accommodations, call (212) 308-3351. Shuttles will pick up passengers from the Tramway Station.
