Using Four Freedoms Park as an inspiring outdoor classroom, we offer opportunities for parents and children to collaborate in art making and free play. From art workshops on history, architecture, and design to our partnerships with Uni Project & Imagination Playground, we strive to promote literacy, innovation, and creativity for young learners.
Whether commemorative, informative, or participatory, our special events create opportunities for celebration and reflection. The vision of the Four Freedoms inspires multicultural performances & ceremonial events.
Through expert discussion and hands-on workshops, we offer adult learning in topics related to FDR and the Four Freedoms, NYC history, as well as Louis Kahn, urban design, and architecture.
The posters above were created between 1936 and 1943 as part of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Federal Art Project, a government-sponsored art program designed to provide work relief for artists. As part of the Works Progress Administration, FAP artists created more than 200,000 separate works, including 2,000 WPA posters like those pictured above.
