From Manhattan take Tramway Car at 59th Street and Second Avenue Station to Roosevelt Island. Exit at Tramway Station on Roosevelt Island and continue south. Whenever you encounter a turn, go south or east. Proceed until you reach the gate to the Park, at the southeast end of the Island. 

SUBWAY:

Take the F train to the Roosevelt Island stop. Exit the subway and continue south. Whenever you encounter a turn, go south or east. Proceed until you reach the gate to the Park, at the southeast end of the Island. 

CAR:

Take the Lower Roadway of the 59th Street/Queensboro Bridge to Queens and stay in the far right lane. Take the very first right exit off the Bridge. Take an immediate left onto Queens Plaza. Go 5 blocks to Jackson Avenue and take a right. Go 3 blocks to 44th Drive and take a right. Continue straight to Vernon Boulevard and take a right. Continue on Vernon Boulevard until 36th Avenue, then take a left onto the Roosevelt Island Bridge. Follow the ramp leading down to the island, and take a left at the end of the ramp. You are now on Main Street. Continue south. Whenever you encounter a turn, go south or east. Proceed until you reach the gate to the Park, at the southeast end of the Island.
