On Saturday, April 16 at 11am Four Freedoms Park welcomed its 500,00th (and 500,001st) visitors to the Park: Paul and Edith from Antwerp, Belgium! The couple, who first visited New York City twenty-one years ago, came to the Park after reading about the memorial in a recent issue of National Geographic.
Paul and Edith were presented with a special certificate and gift bag from President & CEO of Four Freedoms Park Conservancy, Sally Minard, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, State Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright, and City Council Member Ben Kallos.
Congresswoman Maloney, Assembly Member Seawright, and Council Member Kallos spoke about the importance of the four freedoms today, highlighting their commitment to these freedoms and congratulating the Park for celebrating the legacy of FDR and human rights everyday.
Visitors were serenaded by dixieland jazz band, The Recessionals, and received special cookies emblazoned with the four bars of our logo.
This is a huge milestone for the Park and we are absolutely thrilled to have welcomed more than half a million visitors since opening in October 2012! We look forward to many more adventures and visitors, and as always, appreciate your ongoing and continued support.
